New Digital Frontiers for Gen Z
1. Clubhouse: Real-Time Engagement
This audio-only app has gained popularity among Gen Z for its live discussions and networking opportunities. Users can enter various rooms to participate in talks related to different themes, which creates a strong sense of real-time community.
Clubhouse’s rise reflects Gen Z’s preference for authentic, unscripted content and real-time interaction.
The platform also has a specific format of drop-in audio conversations creating the platform for real-time engagement.
2. Twitch: Beyond Gaming
Beyond gaming, Twitch has expanded into other live streaming areas, including music, art, and even daily life streams.
The distinguishing feature of this platform that appeals to Gen Z is its interactive nature, which allows users to participate directly in the content creators’ life.
Brands can also utilize Twitch to showcase their products during live streams, organize common discussions, or engage influencers. The chat feature of the application is especially beneficial for its real-time nature as compared to the other platforms.
Pro Tip
Brands should consider how they can leverage these platforms to create live, interactive experiences that resonate with Gen Z’s desire for community and real-time engagement.
Organizing live events or discussions, interactive Q&A sessions, or any other event would help to cultivate their interest.

Heightened Privacy and Security Awareness
1. Ephemeral Content
Temporary content has become overwhelmingly popular on Snapchat as well as in the Stories section of Instagram and Facebook. The application of this concept appeals to Gen Z’s desire for privacy and control over their digital footprint.
The temporary character of the content provides a strong sense of exclusivity, which may increase the engagement rates, while at the same time, the temporary nature of the content also reduces the pressure of maintaining a perfect online persona.
2. Secure Communication
Although most popular platforms have been undertaking efforts to protect the users’ data, Gen Z are increasingly deciding to use special apps for their personal communication.
Signal and Telegram are becoming popular due to their encryption and definitive privacy.
These platforms provide the security and privacy that Gen Z seeks, making them trusted channels for personal and sensitive conversations.
The rise of encrypted messaging apps highlights Gen Z's growing concern for data security and privacy.
Pro Tips
Ephemeral Campaigns
Create campaigns that utilize temporary content to engage Gen Z while respecting their privacy.
For instance, exclusive time-limited offers or behind-the-scenes content can generate excitement and engagement. Brands can use Snapchat or Instagram Stories to share limited-time promotions and sneak peeks.
Transparency
Clearly Communicate about what you do with the users’ data and privacy, and provide settings to opt-in or out or take control of what the company can process with their data.
For example, regularly push notifications to update the privacy agreement, provide the link to the data protection policy, and stipulate simple information about how their data is utilized.
